Subjects Taught

I obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading Education from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in May 2009.

I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Elementary Education from the The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2003.  Go Tarheels!

I am a native of the Archdale-Trinity area.  I am a former student of Trindale Elementary, ATMS, and graduated from Trinity High School in 1999.

Most recently I obtained my National Board Certification in the area of childhood and adolescent reading. I am proud to be one of four teachers at The Dale who has achieved this honor.

This is my 13th year as an educator. This is my third year as the Reading Specialist at Trindale Elementary.  Prior to being a Reading Specialist, I was the Curriculum Support Instructor at Tabernacle Elementary for three years, a third grade teacher at Trindale Elementary for five years, and a fourth grade and fifth grade teacher at Parkwood Elementary in Durham, North Carolina, each for one year. I have enjoyed and learned from each of these positions and I am thankful for the varied experiences in education. I am most passionate about helping each and every student be able to read on grade level. Reading is the key that opens up many other learning opportunities. If a student can read, they can do ANYTHING!

I live here in the Archdale Trinity Area with my husband, Cory. He is a science teacher at Archdale-Trinity Middle. We have an adorable infant son. I enjoy taking care of my family, including our fur baby, a Weimeriner named Bella. We love cooking and entertaining. I also enjoy writing, sleeping, and coffee (I have an infant son...) =) We attend church in the area and I enjoy volunteering with different organizations to help make the community a great place to be.
